CANON VIETNAM CONTINUES "CANON FRIENDSHIP SCHOOL CHAIN" PROJECT: ENHANCING SCHOOL FACILITIES AND SUPPORTING COMMUNITY HEALTH IN LAI CHAU
Lai Chau, April 24, 2026 – Canon Vietnam Co., Ltd. collaborated with Ta Mung Primary School to hold a handover ceremony for renovated classrooms at the Canon Friendship Primary School sites – Tu San and Lun – located in Muong Kim Commune, Lai Chau Province.
The ceremony was attended by representatives of the Muong Kim Commune People’s Committee, Department of Culture and Social Affairs, the school management board and teachers, students, and 50 local households. The event was held successfully in a warm and meaningful atmosphere.
The handover program at Canon – Tu San school is part of the series of activities of the "Reconnecting School" program in 2026 under the "Canon Friendship School Chain" Project. Through this activity, Canon Vietnam aims to continue supporting and creating better learning conditions for schools and students where Canon previously contributed to school construction. Support activities include funding for facility upgrades, classroom renovations, the donation of educational equipment, book cabinets, and Ehon picture books to promote reading habits among students.
Canon – Tu San & Canon - Lun Primary School was sponsored by Canon Vietnam to build 5 solid classrooms since 2008. After many years of use, the facilities had gradually deteriorated. During this visit, Canon Vietnam provided financial support to renovate all five classrooms, including repainting the entire buildings, repairing water leakage areas, replacing classroom roofing, and donating printers and Ehon book cabinets. In addition, Canon Vietnam presented 42 gift sets to students, consisting of school backpacks, colored crayons, and notebooks.
Alongside the “Reconnect Canon friendship school chain” program, Canon Vietnam cooperated with medical staff from the Muong Kim Commune Health Center to deliver a community health awareness session on measles prevention. The content of propaganda combined practical guidance with vivid video materials, helping students, parents, and local residents better understand disease prevention methods and protect their health. At the end of the program, Canon Vietnam also presented 50 gift packages containing essential items to local residents who participated in the health propaganda program.
Looking ahead to May and August, Canon Vietnam will continue organizing handover ceremonies for renovated classrooms, restrooms, and educational equipment donations at the Canon – Phieng Vang school under Huy Giap Kindergarten in Huy Giap Commune, Cao Bang Province. The company will also complete and hand over renovation works for five classrooms, restrooms, and a teachers’ room at the Canon – Na Ban school under Xuan Lac Primary School in Nam Cuong Commune, Thai Nguyen Province. These activities will be accompanied by health care consultation programs for students and local residents.
The “Canon Friendship School Chain Project” once again reaffirms Canon’s long-term commitment to sustainable development in Vietnam, as well as the Kyosei philosophy – living and working together for the common good – that Canon has consistently pursued. Canon Vietnam hopes that with its continuous efforts and the encouragement of the Vietnamese Government and local authorities, Canon’s social contribution activities will continue to expand, generating tangible benefits for Vietnam’s education and contributing to the sustainable development of society.
