Canon starts New year with "Canon Friendship School chain"

In the fresh atmosphere of coming new year, Canon Vietnam visit Canon-Tu San branch primary school of Ta Mung commune ethnic day board primary school, Than Uyen district, Lai Chau province to present renovated and repaired classrooms for teaching & studying work of school and 40 backpacks and shoes for pupils. Especially, pupils & their family also received a lot of warm clothes donated by Canon employees with hope to ease the cold weather for a warmer spring.

Located in remoted area of Vietnam and lacking infrastructure, equipment, difficult transportation, the school is one of schools that have many memories with “Canon Friendship school chain”. At the first time of fact-finding school, Canon was moved by the difficulties, infrastructure lacks that school has to overcome. Canon decided to build 2 new classrooms and inaugurated in 2009.

Canon not only sponsored to build new classrooms but also follow the situation of schools belonging to project. In the beginning of 2018, Canon Vietnam supported school to renovate and repair 2 classroom. On 27 Jan, the handover ceremony was organized successfully with the representatives from Than Uyen district People’s Committee, department of Education & Training, Ta Mung Commune People’s Committee, the principal, teachers and pupils. Also, there were 50 volunteers who were employees of Canon Vietnam’s supporting school to paint classrooms, clean school, print and take photos for pupils. This meaningful activity left the deep impression for school and local people about the youth, the contribution of volunteers as message “Hand in hand, you and I for a bright future”.

With the purpose of improving studying environment of teachers and pupils in mountainous area as well as encouraging studying spirit of pupils, since 2007, Canon Vietnam has been supporting 90 friendship schools, bringing many new and spacious classrooms for unprivileged pupils in Vietnam. Moreover, every year we also visit, upgrade these schools if necessary and present equipment such as cameras, printers, computers, Canon bookcases, bunk beds for schools in the project.

Canon hopes that with the effort of company, local authorities, the encouragement from Vietnam government and the contribution from young Canon volunteers, the social contribution activities of Canon Vietnam as well as “Canon volunteer network on social & culture activities” will be stronger to the social contribution activities will be expanded widely, achieve more effective results for Vietnam education in particular, and Vietnam society development in general.
