CANON VISIT CANON - THAC DAT BRANCH SCHOOL, HAM YEN DISTRICT
With the philosophy “Kyosei” – “Living & working for the common good”, towards the Sustainable Development Goals initiated by the United Nations, in recent years, a lot of activities and projects which were launched together with Vietnam to contribute on many fields such as environment protection, climate change prevention, enhancing training quality, human resources developments, enhancing life quality by many outstanding projects. In which, “Canon Friendship school chain” is a typical project.
"Canon Friendship School Chain" project which is one of the earliest social contribution programs of Canon Vietnam launched in 2007, aims to 2 sustainable development goals including Target No.4: Ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all, and target no.17: Strengthen the means of implementation and revitalize the global partnership for sustainable development. Until now, Canon Vietnam has been sponsored for 48 school in 20 provinces in the Northern and Center of Vietnam. It is not only sponsoring classrooms but also showing care by constantly monitoring the situation of the schools in the project. Launched in 2012, “Reconnect Friendship School Chain” project with the goal of supporting and facilitating more students and school. Since then, many schools have been supported with facilities such as the construction of toilets, renovation of classrooms, school premises, donations of learning and teaching equipment to improve the learning and teaching conditions.
On 28th June, 2020, General Manager of Accounting Division – Ms. Nguyen Thi Tam being representative for Canon Vietnam visited and presented gifts to Canon – Thac Dat branch School of Minh Dan Primary School, Minh Dan commune, Ham Yen district, Tuyen Quang province. The school was built in 2007 with 5 classrooms. Until now, the school keep good condition & use effectively. On this visit, Canon Vietnam supported school to renovate classrooms and repaint all the classrooms; Canon Vietnam also presented students nice backpacks, candy, coats and shoes. The handover ceremony was held successfully with the present of the People's Committee of Minh Dan commune, representatives of the District Education and Training Department, representatives of Ham Yen District People's Committee, school board, teachers and students.


Before that, on 27th Jun, at Canon – Thac Dat branch primary school, 50 Canon Vietnam volunteers who are employees of the company, participated in sweeping and painting 5 classrooms. This meaningful activity has left a deep impression on the school and local people about the volunteer spirit, the contribution of young people to the community as well as the message "Hand in hand, you and me, for a bright future!”
On 3rd of Jul, and 9th Oct, Canon Vietnam will continue the visit to Canon –Lun kindergarten (Than Uyen, Lai Chau) and Canon-Ngu Mai primary school (Da Bac, Hoa Binh). Company will present new electric light system, school equipment, books & school bags for pupils at Canon-Lun primary school, and renovation fee, new door and windows for Canon - Ngu Mai; back pack, candy & reference books. Total sponsor amount for "Canon Friendship School Chain" project in 2020 is about 200 million VND. Besides, each pupil receives a jacket & a pair of shoes which were bought from donated money of employees.
Canon Vietnam hopes that with the effort of company, local authorities, the encouragement from government and the contribution from young Canon volunteers, the social contribution activities of Canon Vietnam as well as “Canon volunteer network on social & culture activities” will contribute more for the development of Vietnam as the leading Japanese enterprise for the sustainable development (SDGs) of Vietnam & the world.
