CANON VIETNAM AND 29 COMPANIES JOIN HANDS TO SUPPORT PEOPLE IN FLOOD AREAS

Hanoi, date 4th November 2020 – With the desire to share the pain and loss of the people in the Central region severely affected by the flood and storm, the trucks carried relief aids of Canon Vietnam and 30 companies: Canon Electronics Vietnam, Canon Marketing Vietnam, Santomas, Tenma, Seiyo, Nissin Electric, Sumitomo, Toyo Ink, Yamato Industries, Hanel, Kinyosha, Topla, JoyoMark, THK, Kingmo, Dainichi Color, Shihen, Misumi, Meiko, Konishi, NST, NRS-Raiza Express, Nippon Express, Delta International, , Bach Son, Green Space, Ha Phat , Thanh Nghia, Hieu's group has departed towards the affected by flood and storm in 3 districts of Gio Linh, Huong Hoa, Dakrong of Quang Tri Province and 3 districts of Son Tinh, Minh Long, Son Ha of Quang Ngai Province. During this trip, Canon staffs and representatives of companies handed nearly 1,300 gift sets, including cash and necessities items as: rice, cooking oil, fish sauce, spices, instant noodles, milk, shampoo, soap, face towels, medicine, backpacks, shirts… for poor households who severely affected by recent 2 storms no. 8 and no. 9 with a total estimated value of 1.8 billion VND.

The above donation amount is contributed by the companies and their employees in the donation week from October 20 to October 27. Although the aid gifts can never compensate the heavy losses suffered but they presented the gesture of the kind heartedness and sharing from companies and their employees with the desire to help the flooded people quickly stabilize their lives after floods.

During 2 delivery times from November 4th-5th and 8th-10th , volunteer team of Canon and companies in cooperation with the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union of Quang Tri and Quang Ngai provinces visited, shared and gave cash and gifts to nearly 1,200 poor and severely affected households in 11 communes: Linh Thuong, Vinh Truong (Gio Linh); A Ngo, Ta Rut, A Bung (Dak Rong); Thuan commune, Thanh commune (Huong Hoa) of Quang Tri province; Tinh Hiep, Tinh Son commune (Son Tinh), Long Mai (Minh Long), Son Ba (Son Ha) of Quang Ngai province.

Touched by the sharing of the companies, the households expressed their sincere thanks to the companies. Local peopple shared: "I would like to thank the companies for not hesitate the far distance to come here to give gifts to support us overcoming this difficult period ..." .

Also at the time in 2010, 2013 and 2016, when the people in the middle of Vietnam were faced with consecutive big storms causing heavy damage, Canon called up billions dongs and donated for thousands of affected households in the central provinces.

In addition to the flood donation, Canon also organized many other meaningful social responsibility activities such as the program: the project "Canon friendship school chain" to support building classrooms for disadvantaged schools across the country; awarding the scholarship "Canon – Cultivate future talents", or the planting tree project "For a green Vietnam"... In the future, Canon commits to continue to cooperate with businesses, organizations and unions in projects to contribute to society and have a positive impact on the community.
