Canon Viet nam visit, present gift and organize health care propaganda program at Canon- Tu San friendship school, Lai Chau

In the morning of May 18, 2023, Canon Vietnam (CVN) in collaboration with the Management Board, the Youth Union of Hanoi Industrial Parks & Export Processing Zones visited and presented gifts to Canon - Tu San school, Ta Mung commune, Than Uyen district. Lai Chau province; at the same time, in collaboration with the District Union, the Health center of Than Uyen district successfully organized a health care propaganda program for nearly 200 pupils and people here. The participant of this program were representatives of the Department of Education and Training of Than Uyen district, the District Union, the Health center of Than Uyen district, the People's Committee and Communist Party committee of Ta Mung commune and all teachers, pupils of Canon – Tu San primary school.

The project "Canon friendship school chain" is one of the first social activities projects of Canon Vietnam implemented since 2007, belongs to the theme "Top Japanese enterprises contribute to the society" towards two sustainable development goals, including: Goal No.4: Ensure quality, inclusive and equitable education and enhance the lifelong learning opportunities for all, and Goal No.17: Enhance implementation and promotion of global partnerships for sustainable development. Until now, CVN has supported 50 schools in 21 northern and central provinces. CVN not only implement the schools’ construction, but also shows the interest by regularly monitoring the situation of the schools of the project. In 2012, the program "Reconnect schools" was implemented with the aim of supporting and creating the better conditions for pupils and schools. Since then, many schools have been supported the facilities such as building toilets, renovating classrooms and whole school areas, donating learning and teaching materials to improve learning and teaching conditions. In 2022, the Health care propaganda program to raise awareness for pupils, parents as well as local people has been implemented with the coordination of the District Youth Union in each locality, towards Sustainable development goal #3: Ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for people of all ages.

This is the third visit of CVN to Canon - Tu San school after being built in 2008 with 2 permanent classrooms. On this visit, the company supported the school to repair and upgrade classrooms, toilets, handwashing areas and equip pupils with additional items such as books, warm clothes, blankets, floor carpets… CVN's representative also personally presented lovely school backpacks, face towels, crayons, and candy to the pupils. Attending the ceremony, the pupils, their parents and local people were also taught the harms and how to prevent school diseases such as myopia, Scoliosis, dental disease... by doctors from Than Uyen district health center. The content was taught and practiced vividly with illustrated videos to help pupils, parents, and people more clearly visualize how to prevent diseases to protect health. At the end of the program, the company presented nearly 200 gifts to pupils, parents and local people attending the program.

Representatives of the Management Board, the Youth Union of Hanoi Industrial Parks and Export Processing Zones also presented to the pupils and the school more books, notebooks, stories, sleeping bags, blankets, mattress and gas stove sets to support more for learning and educational activities so thatthe pupils have the better learning conditions.

2023 is the year marking the 50th anniversary of diplomatic friendship relations between Vietnam and Japan, one of the activities implemented to celebrate this special event of CVN is to donate E-Hon comic books for the pupils. These are popular books and are associated with all Japanese children. The contents of the books are small stories illustrated with pictures, helping to bring up the imagination, vocabulary, emotions and enrich children's souls. 50 E-Hon books and 2 bookcases were presented to school. Through this activity, CVN wishes to further contribute to the development of Vietnamese children and strengthen cultural exchanges between Vietnam and Japan.

Also in the series of activities to implement "Reconnect schools" 2023 program, on February 24th and March 3rd, CVN visited and presented gifts to students at Canon - Ban Hiep Friendship primary school (Chiem Hoa, Tuyen Quang) and Canon - Be Tren Friendship kindergarten school (Lac Son, Hoa Binh); and at the beginning of the new school year next time, CVN will visit and present gifts to pupils at Canon - Na Ban Friendship Primary School (Cho Don, Bac Kan). Accordingly, CVN donated the fee to repair and upgrade classrooms, hand washing areas and toilets, water purifiers, school supplies, story books, bookshelves, and backpacks for pupils in schools. The total support for 4 schools in the project "Reconnect schools" in 2023 is nearly 680 million VND.

The "Canon Friendship School Chain" project once again affirms our strategic commitment to long-term development in Vietnam as well as the Kyosei philosophy - Live and work for the common good that Canon always believes and follow. With its efforts and encouragement from the government and local authorities, CVN hopes to contribute to the community and to the further development of Vietnam, towards the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of Vietnam and the world.
